Other Planes

This is where you’ll find my non-military aviation illustrations. I occasionally enjoy tackling a civilian or general aviation subject – and if it’s a commission, even better!

KURT, PELE – PELE, KURT

Kurt is a CFI at one of the local airports in Southern California and just flat out loves to fly. One of his biggest thrills is getting new people interested in flying. He’s been known to spend hours and hours hanging out talking to people about flying (I’m one of them!).

Since a recent trip to Hawaii, Kurt has been trying to figure out if he can strip enough weight out of the plane, and add enough fuel to ferry his 182 to Hawaii, where he’d like to take up residence and teach flying.

Talk about dreams!

Kurt’s wife asked me to do this drawing for Kurt as a Christmas present. After telling me about Kurt’s dream to teach flying in Hawaii, I decided to make this drawing about two dreams – one realized, and one yet to come to fruition.

Good Luck, Kurt!

GREG’S 170

General Aviation has fascinated me since I was a kid. One of my favorite things to do was to go to the local municipal airport and watch the planes take off. Cessnas, Pipers, Beechcraft & Mooneys, I could identify them all.

My friend asked me to draw his “170” and remembering my childhood love of these types of aircraft, how could I refuse? Greg’s 170 is a 1952 model that’s been largely restored. It’s a beauty! Now I’ve just got to get him to take me up in it….
